Position Objectives:
Stark County is looking for a county parks worker to join our team for a 6-month period lasting from mid-April to September. The position requires up to 40 hours of on-site work per week while events are going on.
The ideal candidate will have a base-level knowledge of events management and outdoor recreational activities to assist with the overall operation of Stark County Park facilities. Performs a variety of buildings and grounds maintenance, preparing for events, and assisting at scheduled events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist with tasks related to maintaining park facilities and executing events.
· Communicate with renters on scheduling and contracts for use of facilities.
· Prepares grounds for events according to contract requirements.
· Works with Fair Association to coordinate features or functions necessary for a successful fairground event.
· Provides facility tours, demonstrating functions of facilities/equipment needed, access to buildings, and communicating needs/requests of renters.
· Assists Road Department in maintaining grounds by mowing and weed eating.
· Assists cleaning contractor by ensuring restrooms are stocked, cleaned, and in working order.
· Ensure trash and recycling is ready for collection as scheduled.
· Assists with weed control by obtaining certification through the Weed Control Department.
· Operates motorized equipment and reports any maintenance issues to the Road Department.
· Works with Building & Grounds Director to maintain facilities in good working order.
· Assists with event planning setup/tear down such as stalling, RV electrical rental, concessions & ticket booth.
· Performs related work as required or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
High School diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Certified applicator's license or willing to obtain
Desirable Training and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a base-level knowledge of events management and outdoor recreational activities.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A desire to learn and take initiative with problem solving.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate equipment necessary for grounds and arena maintenance, including but not limited to lawn mowing equipment, side-by-sides, and tractor equipment

Working conditions/Physical and Mental Demands:
- Physical environment April through September will mainly consist of an outdoor position. Will include physical motions of walking, lifting, and standing motions.
- Hours include working some evenings and weekends as needed for events.
